Dr. Mohamed Shadi

Dr. Mohamed Shadi has a PhD in Economics and Public Finance and a master’s degree in International Law. He is a teacher of Political Economy at the National Training Academy (NTA) of the Presidency of the Arab Republic of Egypt, a teacher of Transport and Energy Economics at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AAST) of the Arab League, a political economy expert at the Egyptian Centre for Strategic Studies (ECSS), and a columnist for several Egyptian newspapers. He has ten years of expertise in political economy and energy economics and has undertaken several studies in both and has provided decision-makers with several policy papers and alternatives.

Pacinte Abdel-Fattah

Before joining Al Habtoor Research Centre, Pacinte Abdel-Fattah was a Senior Economic Researcher in the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and Assistant to the Minister in the Technical Office. During her time in the Ministry, she conducted research in various fields and analysed reports issued by international institutions tackling numerous topics, including but not limited to the global economy and investment.   She was involved in the decision-making process during her tenure and was responsible for drafting memorandums on economic policies presented to the Prime Minister. She has diverse research interests, including the global and political economy, investment policies, international trade, and digital economy.   Pacinte holds an M.A. in International Business Law from Montreal University and a B.Sc. in Law from Ain-Shams University in Egypt.

Mostafa Ahmed

Mostafa’s research and writings focus on regional and international security, while his contributions deal primarily with gulf security, conflict resolution, and negotiations. His research has supported decision-makers in across multiple governmental bodies. Prior to joining Al Habtoor Research Centre, Mostafa was a lecturer of International Relations at Mongolia International University. He obtained his first master’s degree in International Relations from Porto University, and obtained his second master’s degree from Korea Development Institute (KDI), one of the leading think tanks in Asia.

Ahmed El-Saeid

Ahmed El-Saeid is an Senior Economic Researcher in the Early Warning Programme, which focuses on monitoring and forecasting geopolitical threats and social and technological conflicts and transformations.   Prior to joining Al Habtoor Research Centre, he served as an Economist at the Central Bank of Egypt in the Macro-Prudential department, where he conducted research on Egypt’s industrial sectors and their exposure to economic shocks in addition to the analysis of the domestic credit environment. He contributed to the CBE’s annual Financial Stability Report. He also worked at Delta Research Center as a Political and Economic Researcher and interned at the World Bank in the Office of the Vice President.   Ahmed holds a B.A. in Economics with a minor in History from the American University in Cairo. His research interests include technological transformations' economic, political and social effects and monitoring, analysing and managing the global economy’s risks.

Habiba Diaaeldin

Habiba is a Senior Political Researcher in the Early Warning Programme at Al-Habtoor Research Centre. She obtained an M.A. at the University of Glasgow, the Autonomous University of Madrid, and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Before joining HRC, she attended the Instituto de Ciencias Sociais de Lisboa's Research winter school. She interned at the ENA Institute for Alternative Policies in Athens, where she worked as a research assistant. Habiba’s research interests include democratization, civil-military relations, secessionist movements, and Euro-Mediterranean politics.

Ahmed Abouyoussef

Ahmed Abouyoussef is a researcher at the Political Studies Program at Al Habtoor Research Centre. Ahmed Abouyoussef’s research interests revolve around peace and conflict studies in the MENA region, where he conducts research on armed groups engaged in MENA civil wars, especially in Syria and Libya.   He is also interested in exploring the impact of sectarian rivalry between Iran and Saudi Arabia on hardening sectarian identities in the MENA region. Additionally, Ahmed examines the spillovers of MENA conflicts in surrounding areas, such as Europe.   Before joining the Al Habtoor Research Center, Ahmed worked for local and international research centers, including the Arab Center for Research, the Saif Bin Hilal Center for Energy Studies, and the Center of Middle East Studies (CEMO) in Paris. He also worked for international humanitarian organizations such as Terre des Hommes in Egypt and Humanexus International in Sweden.   Ahmed holds an MSc in European & Mediterranean Studies and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He obtained both degrees from the Faculty of Economics & Political Science at Cairo University.

Farah El-Komy

Farah El-Komy is a Research Assistant in the Economics and Energy Programme at Al-Habtoor Research Centre.   Prior to joining Al Habtoor Research Centre, she interned at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), focusing on projects related to private sector development, financial modeling, and investment. Prior to the IFC Farah participated at the Model Arab League Simulation on the Arab League as a researcher.   Farah holds a B.A. in Economics from The British University in Egypt and London South Bank University and is interested in Labour Economics, Monetary Policies, International Economic Relations and Political Economy.
